Peer Marking Code English

Peer Marking Code English

(0)
A simple set of letters that can be used as a peer marking code for children to use when assessing others writing. These are basic but are effective for getting children to consider the key elements of the writing and being able to mark it quickly and effectively. They could also be used for staff to mark writing with children then responding to these to improve their own, whilst saving time writing lengthy comments.

Back to School: Classroom Rules

(9)
An activity made for the start of the new school year. This activity is made to get children to think about rules that they think are important as classroom rules. There are 15 different rules that children will need to cut out. In groups, get children to pick the five rules they think are most important, getting them to justify why they think they are the five most important. This can then lead in to a classroom discussion looking at each groups selection and getting them to discuss why they picked them. These can also be used to then create the class rules for the year if their is a clear set of favourite rules or by voting on each one.

Improving Maths

Attached is a look at how to improve Maths throughout a whole primary school. Through the mastery powerpoint you will be given insight into research that looks at how schools can deliver a mastery approach for all children. This will include examples of how to use these through methods I have used myself. Attached with this are then examples of a weekly plan for Year 5 that shows how this can be used. These demonstrate how you can use a mastery approach and show differentiation. Also included are a range of starter questions that can be mixed together/ used in isolation during starters to improve children's understanding and a powerpoint that introduces the Singapore Bar method. This resource offers savings on previous uploads with the Singapore Bar, Maths starter and Year 5 activities costing £10 altogether. This package also offers insight into how to lead improvement within your own classroom and within school.

Perfect for back to school - Use these as a fun activity to get to know the children in your class. Each question gets children thinking and can require them to justify their decision. Questions can include set criteria e.g. cleaning the toilet with your toothbrush and then having to use it. Some are simply silly, fun questions whilst some will offer deep insight into the nature of individuals. Simply print them out, and either laminate them or cut them out and stick them on card. 116 question cards included. Whilst they can be used at the start of the year as a fun way to get to know individuals, they can also be used throughout the year. Have a day a week where one is used, getting children to do a straw poll with hands up and then discussing or getting children to write on a whiteboard and a reason why. They could also record them in a notebook to show their thinking. These can also be taken further by getting children to think of their own, getting them to think about questioning and ensuring that the two topics are related to one another and have a similar level of reward/ punishment with these then becoming discussion points.
